The nominations
A preference will be given to projects that have already been installed and for which the environmental impact has been measured. The installation of the project must preferably have taken place in 2009, 2010 or 2011.
The nominations must be submitted by a city or a local authority that has taken the initiative for the creation of this project.
The files must be submitted no later than 28th October 2011 c.poncin@latw-schreder.com.
The criteria
The main selection criterion is the minimization of the ecological footprint and the environmental impact of the lighting project through innovating solutions.
The jury will essentially focus on the followings aspects:
- the energy consumption and the cost of the lighting project, the CO2 emissions
- the environmental impact of the various factors related to the use and production of light: the resources needed for the production of lamps, luminaires and posts, the transportation cost …
- the recycling opportunities
- the relevance of such project in terms of quality of life for the inhabitants, and the consideration of the social, cultural and economic dimensions of lighting in general in this project
- the relevance of the harmful effect lighting can have on human health, biodiversity and night landscape
- the integration of the project into a wider-ranging plan that is consistent over time and all over the concerned territory, where other inputs may strengthen its impact
- the exemplary character of the project so that as many cities as possible can adopt them or take inspiration from them
- the originality and beauty of the concept
- the quality of the submitted nominations
